Job Description:

Rail Stop Restaurant & Bar is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Dining Room/Private Dining Room Event Manager. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with clients and guests in our restaurant and bar, with a strong focus on promoting the events in our private dining room to both social and corporate clientele.

 

CANDIDATE SUMMARY

Experience:

Must have at least 1-2 years of Food & Beverage Management experience, with at least 1 year of previous experience in Events preferred.

TIPS Certification

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for building business for the Restaurant through direct and indirect sales techniques, including all planning components of private and large party dining, with community marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with the Restaurant GM and Executive Chef to ensure every event is flawlessly executed.
  • Run the Dining Room for scheduled shifts, ensuring staff are adhering to standards, and tables are being attended to. 
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, to ensure repeat business and clientele.
  • Selling and service events, to include; menu planning, contract review, facilitating communication before, during and post event.
  • Attend daily staff meeting and pre-meals, developing topics to discuss daily, educating staff on training topics.
  • Develop and maintain inside sales techniques, working with the Marketing team to ensure vision of the Restaurant and Private Dining room.
  • Assist in F&B Staff Management, including adherence to standards of appearance and uniform, time and attendance, steps of service and service standards.
  • Practice safety and cleanliness in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Create and maintain approved training program for the team.
  • Work with the Management Team to ensure proper ordering and inventory is in place, management of special products, product organization, and completing monthly inventory when necessary.
  • Make updates to the Point of Sale system in regards to pricing, making adjustments, entering specials, and maintaining counts.
  • Monitor employee’s performance and issues, delivering appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Complete other projects as assigned by the Restaurant General Manager.

Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of urgency, with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Strong focus on floor management, bar, service and staff training for FOH.
  • Proven ability to lead and cultivate a strong team of food & beverage professionals.
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage, Sales & Event Operations.
  • Knowledge of Wine/Craft Beer, liquors and cocktails, with ability to provide detailed descriptions to guests.
  • Must have a strong presence on the floor during service, peak business periods, and events.
  • Desire to learn about spirits, cocktails, wine and passion for food.
  • Commitment to hospitality and exceptional food & beverage service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with maximum efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively lead and work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound logic and judgement in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated and be able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Must have experience in all Microsoft Office and industry relevant Point of Sales System.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing. A second language is desirable.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for 10 hours’ length of time
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Work will primarily take place in the front of the house, back office, to include the Private Dining Room and Kitchen areas.
  • Group and solo work.
