Job Description:


The Prep Cook makes sauces and soups according to recipes and prepares other fresh ingredients needed by the chefs. This job requires being on your feet for long periods of time and the ability to lift 50 pounds.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prep food products using standardized food preparation techniques

  • Wash, peel, cut and seed vegetables and fruits; clean, cut, and grind meats, poultry, and seafood; dip food items in crumbs, flour, batter and bread them; stir and strain soups and sauces, etc.

  • Weigh and measure designated ingredients

  • Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stoves and refrigerators

  • Store foods in designated areas, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and food spoilage

  • Maintain sanitary regulations and food temperatures.

  • Properly date and rotate food according to FIFO (First In First Out)

  • Maintain work area, including countertops, utensils, equipment, garbage and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with health and safety regulations

  • Ensure that all food prepared is in peak condition

  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene in compliance with healthy and safety regulations as well as company policy

  • Must be able to visually recognize the condition of food and cooking temperatures

  • Other job-related duties, as assigned




Experience and Skills:


  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old

  • High school diploma or equivelent

  • One year of recent prep cook experience in a high-volume, full service restaurant, preferred

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time without sitting down

  • Must be able to bend and reach on a continuous basis

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to use all hand tools and machines needed for work

  • Must be able to measure and cut with great precision

  • Ensure that all products are prepared to company specification

  • Must continuously demonstrate a positive, upbeat and customer-focused attitude
